Healthy Beginnings Perinatal Program

Sacramento County launched the program in partnership with Bridges Professional Treatment Services to bring treatment and family support together.
Who it serves
People who are pregnant or up to 12 months postpartum and affected by substance use or related behavioral health needs. Children up to age five may remain with their mothers in the residential program.
Services
Residential treatment, intensive outpatient and outpatient care, sober housing, and care coordination. Family support includes parenting education and connections to maternal-infant care, lactation and doula support, housing, food and transportation.
County support
The County is providing approximately $2.8 million annually in perinatal-specific funding to expand treatment capacity.

Eligibility and referrals
The provider serves Medi-Cal, uninsured and underinsured families, including people with co-occurring behavioral health needs. Referrals are accepted from hospitals and OB providers, CPS and courts, managed care plans and Sacramento County Behavioral Health Services.
Residential care is typically about 90 days, with extensions based on medical necessity. Participants can transition to outpatient or intensive outpatient care and sober living with ongoing coordination. Contact the program before visiting to discuss eligibility, referral steps and availability.
